5 Steps to Play on PC

Check Your PC Requirements

Before downloading — confirm your PC is compatible

Forza Horizon 3 requires Windows 10 PC (64-bit) with DirectX 12 support. This is non-negotiable — the PC game will refuse to launch on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1.

Confirm your PC meets these minimum specs before you download:

OS: Windows 10 64-bit PC (any build)
CPU: Intel Core i5-750 or AMD FX-6300 or better
RAM: 8 GB on your PC
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 650 Ti or AMD R9 290X — must support DirectX 12
Storage: 55 GB free space on your PC drive
DirectX: DirectX 12 (included with Windows 10 PC)

💡 PC Tip To check your Windows version on PC: press Win + R, type winver, and hit Enter. You need Windows 10 or newer.

Install PC Prerequisites

Required runtimes your PC needs before launching

The PC game requires certain Microsoft runtimes to be present. Most Windows 10 PCs already have these via Windows Update, but install them manually if the game crashes on first launch:

Visual C++ Redistributables (2015–2022) — both x64 and x86 versions for your PC
DirectX End-User Runtimes — available from Microsoft's official PC download page
.NET Framework 4.6+ — usually already present on Windows 10 PC

⚠ PC Warning If Forza Horizon 3 crashes immediately on your PC with a VCRUNTIME or MSVCP error, installing the Visual C++ Redistributables almost always fixes it.

Save the downloaded archive to any folder on your PC — your Desktop, Downloads folder, or a dedicated games drive all work fine.

💡 PC Tip If your PC antivirus flags the archive during download, this is a false positive common with repacked PC games. Add an exception for the download folder or temporarily disable real-time protection during download and extraction.

Extract on Your PC

Unpack the archive — no installer needed

The ElAmigos repack is a pre-installed PC build — there is no setup wizard. You simply extract the archive and the game is ready to run on your PC.

Install WinRAR or 7-Zip on your PC if you don't already have one
Right-click the downloaded archive → Extract to [folder name]
Choose a destination on your PC with at least 55 GB free space
Wait for extraction to complete — this may take 5–15 minutes on most PCs

⚠ PC Warning Do NOT extract to a path that contains special characters or spaces (e.g. avoid C:\Users\My PC\Games\Forza Horizon 3). A simple path like C:\Games\FH3 is safest on your PC.

Launch on PC & Start Racing

Open the game — no login or activation required

Open the extracted folder on your PC and locate the game executable (typically ForzaHorizon3.exe or similar). Double-click to launch.

No Xbox account or Microsoft login required for offline PC play
The PC game will load directly into the intro sequence on first launch
All DLC — including Blizzard Mountain and Hot Wheels — is accessible from the in-game PC menu
For best PC performance, run as Administrator (right-click → Run as administrator)

🏁 You're Ready to Race on PC! If the game launched correctly, you'll see the Forza Horizon 3 intro on your PC screen. Head to the festival and start building your Australian open-world racing empire.

Common PC Problems & Fixes

🚫 Game won't launch on PC — "DirectX 12 not supported"

Fix: Your PC's GPU or driver does not support DirectX 12. Update your GPU drivers to the latest version from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel's official site. If your PC GPU is too old to support DX12, the game cannot run.

🚫 PC crashes on startup — VCRUNTIME140.dll missing

Fix: Install the Visual C++ 2015–2022 Redistributable (both x64 and x86) from Microsoft's PC download page. This resolves the vast majority of PC startup crashes.

🚫 "Windows cannot access the specified device / path"

Fix: Your PC antivirus has quarantined a game file. Add the game folder to your antivirus exclusion list on your PC, then re-extract the archive from scratch.

🚫 Low FPS or stuttering on PC

Fix: Lower the PC graphics settings inside the game (reduce shadows, reflections, and resolution). Forza Horizon 3 is demanding on PC — even mid-range PCs may need medium settings for smooth 60 FPS performance.

🚫 PC game launches but DLC is missing

Fix: Confirm you extracted the complete archive. If extraction was interrupted or files are missing on your PC, re-download and re-extract. All DLC is bundled inside the single archive — no separate PC downloads needed.

🚫 Black screen on PC after launch

Fix: Right-click the game executable on your PC → Properties → Compatibility → check Run this program as an administrator. Also try disabling fullscreen optimisations in the same PC compatibility tab.
